Armoede is a community falling under Mogalakwena Local Municipality in Waterberg District, Limpopo. The community has come to be known as Armoede after their relocation to a portion of farm Armoede.

The Armoede community is under Mapela Tribal Trust, and the land on which they are currently located falls under the jurisdiction of the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.
The Traditional Leadership and Governance Framework Act (Act 2, 2019) is the primary legislation that establishes and empowers traditional leadership structures. The municipality is the administrative local authority of
Armoede communities.

Mogalakwena is one of 5 local municipalities in the Waterberg District Municipality. The Armoede community with a population of 2028 and 487 households (Census 2011) is amongst the many communities within the Mogalakwena Mining Rights Area (MMRA). The Municipal Structures Act (Act 117, 1998) defines a municipality as the structures, political office bearers and administration of the municipality; a geographic area; and the community of the municipality.

The Armoede Community Development Trust (ACDT) was established in 2016 to drive the social and economic development of the community by forging mutually beneficial partnerships. The Trust is guided by the Integrated Community Development Plan, created with the community and for their own benefit. An instrument that will ensure that the community individually and collectively become architects of their future.

  • General household size: 4-6 (42.7%). 54 households consist of one person.
  • Demographic attributes: Armoede is a youthful community with 67% of the population below 35 years. 40% (included in the 67%) are below the age of 18 years.
  •  2.8% of the population live with a disability.
